Location: Near Fareham
Salary: £45,147 – £48,894 per annum (pending 4.2 pay award)
Hours per week: 37 hours (part‑time may be discussed) Monday – Friday with flexible office hours
Contract type: Temporary 12 months with the possibility of extension

About the Organisation
The organisation manages and coordinates national Data Protection activity and Freedom of Information, acting as the central conduit for advice and guidance across UK forces.
Role Overview
They are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join the organisation as a Data Protection Manager. This is a unique opportunity to work within a national policing unit, providing specialist advice and support to all UK police forces on data protection legislation.
The role involves developing, maintaining and delivering a National DP Training package, promoting best practice across the Police Service, mitigating the risk of breaches and ICO regulatory action.
It also offers the chance to influence national change in policing through Data Sharing practices, working closely with the NPCC and external stakeholders to enable proactive data sharing and provide support and advice to police forces on all matters of data protection.
Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver national Data Protection training packages for police forces. • Provide specialist advice and support to UK police forces on data protection legislation. • Promote best practice and mitigate risk of breaches and regulatory action. • Work with external stakeholders such as the NPCC to drive national change in data sharing practices. • Present reports recommending process improvements and record‑keeping enhancements to senior staff. • Deliver training sessions and presentations as required.
Essential Qualifications
* Educated to Level 6 or equivalent work experience.
* Hold a nationally recognised training and development qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
* Academic, professional or vocational qualifications relevant to data protection.
Essential Experience
* Substantial knowledge of Data Protection and Human Rights Acts and related legislation.
* Highly effective interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence senior management.
* Experience of presenting reports and recommending improvements in processes and record‑keeping to senior staff.
* Experience of training delivery and/or presentations.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of police organisation and structure, criminal law and police regulations.
