Job Summary:
• An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Manager to lead and manage a respite children’s residential home.
• This role is essential to ensuring high standards of care, safety, and wellbeing for children and young people with complex needs.
• The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and delivering care that meets individual outcomes as outlined in care and support plans.
• The role also fulfils the legal responsibilities of a Registered Manager under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and requires CIW registration.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide strong and effective leadership to staff, fostering a positive and inclusive culture in the home.
• Be accountable for the overall management and performance of the home, including staffing, safeguarding, health and safety, and quality of care.
• Ensure the Statement of Purpose is up to date and adhered to at all times.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with professionals, families, local communities and regulatory bodies.
• Promote and embed restorative approaches and behaviour support strategies such as SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention & Prevention).
• Act as Practice Leader, championing a Signs of Safety culture across the home.
• Manage staff performance, undertake supervision, recruitment, and development in line with best practice.
• Ensure effective resource management including staffing, budget control, and supply procurement.
• Chair meetings and ensure they are conducted to promote involvement, accountability, and clear outcomes.
• Deliver services in accordance with care plans, legislative requirements, and quality standards.
• Implement performance management frameworks, including Results-Based Accountability (RBA), to monitor and improve outcomes for children and young people.
• Promote continuous improvement and ensure stakeholder feedback informs service development.
Skills/Experience:
• Significant experience in a senior or managerial role in residential childcare.
• Experience in performance management, staffing supervision, partnership working and financial oversight.
• Strong working knowledge of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
• Proven ability to manage conflict, implement change, and motivate a team.
• Leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience managing safeguarding and health & safety in residential care.
• Good understanding of child development and complex needs.
• Strong IT and administrative skills.
Additional Information:
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) – Wales & NI.
• Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week.
• Driving: Full valid driving licence and sole use of a vehicle required.
