Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract until October 2026 (Full-Time or Part-Time Hours Considered)


About the Role

Are you eager to build a career in Data Protection and Privacy? Newsquest is looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented individual to join our Privacy Team as a Data Protection and Privacy Analyst.

No prior experience with UK GDPR is necessary, but preferred. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with a passion for learning and a keen eye for detail. Full training and on‑the‑job support will be provided.

As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) and providing vital support to our Data Protection and Privacy Manager within the Gannett Privacy Office (GPO).


Key Responsibilities

* Managing the SAR process efficiently, ensuring requests are processed accurately and within regulatory deadlines.
* Responding to privacy‑related requests, complaints, and queries, ensuring they are addressed or assigned to the appropriate person or team.
* Supporting the escalation process for data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
* Assisting with Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
* Helping develop and maintain awareness and training programs on data protection, including content on the Data Protection SharePoint site.
* Cataloguing and reviewing Records of Processing Activities (RoPA).


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

* Strong analytical skills and excellent written communication.
* The ability to evaluate and process requests with care and precision.
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (an advantage).
* Previous experience in customer service or complaints handling (beneficial but not essential; training will be provided).
* Education: A-levels or higher, or relevant equivalent work‑based experience.
