Hours: 40 hours per week

This role sits at the heart of how our client communicates with its customers. As an Email Marketing Associate – Customer Comms & Automation, you will own the lifecycle email programme – designing, building, and optimising the automated workflows and triggered communications that guide customers from conversion through to long-term engagement.
Working alongside a colleague who manages outbound cold email, segmentation, and re‑engagement campaigns, your focus is firmly on customer‑side communications: conversion journeys, onboarding sequences, usage nudges, lapsed customer recovery, and the full suite of sales funnel automations. You’ll be the person who ensures that every automated touchpoint feels timely, relevant, and genuinely useful to the customer.
This is a role for someone who combines a methodical, process‑oriented mindset with strong writing instincts – someone who can build a complex workflow in HubSpot and then craft the copy that makes it land.
Responsibilities:
Lifecycle & Automation
* Design, build, and maintain automated email workflows across the full customer lifecycle, including conversion sequences, onboarding journeys, usage‑based triggers, and lapsed customer recovery
* Own the marketing automation platform (HubSpot or equivalent) day‑to‑day, ensuring workflows are correctly configured, tested, and performing as intended
* Develop and manage drip sequences and sales funnel communications that nurture leads from initial interest through to purchase
* Identify gaps and opportunities in the customer communication journey and proactively propose new automation workflows to address them
* Ensure all automated programmes are kept up to date and regularly reviewed for relevance and performance
Conversion & Sales Funnel Emails
* Create and optimise conversion email programmes that support sales objectives, moving prospects through the funnel at the right pace
* Work closely with the sales team to understand pipeline stages and align automated communications with commercial priorities
* Build and test landing page integrations and form‑triggered sequences to ensure a seamless conversion experience
Customer Retention & Lapsed Recovery
* Design and manage lapsed customer re‑engagement programmes, working alongside the outbound associate who owns cold and wider re‑engagement campaigns
* Develop usage‑based email triggers that prompt customers to get more value from products at key moments in their journey
* Contribute to customer retention strategy through thoughtful, well‑timed automated communication
Email Content & Copywriting
* Write clear, engaging, and brand‑consistent copy for all automated emails, adapting tone appropriately across different stages of the customer journey
* Maintain brand tone of voice and messaging consistency across all customer communications
* Collaborate with the Content & Design Associate to ensure emails are visually compelling and on‑brand
* Support the production of transactional and operational email communications where required
* Ensure all email activity complies with GDPR and relevant data protection regulations
* Maintain high standards of list hygiene, deliverability, and sender reputation
* Monitor and support the server strategy, flagging risks and supporting testing to protect performance and longevity
* Stay informed on email marketing best practice, platform updates, and emerging automation techniques
Skills and Qualifications:
* Practical, hands‑on experience with a marketing automation platform such as HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, or similar – specifically building and managing automated workflows
* Understanding of lifecycle email marketing principles, including onboarding sequences, drip campaigns, trigger‑based emails, and lapsed customer programmes
* Familiarity with CRM systems and how marketing automation integrates with sales pipelines
* Understanding of email deliverability principles: list hygiene, sender reputation, bounce management, and GDPR compliance
* Comfortable interpreting email performance data (open rates, CTR, conversions) and using insights to improve programmes
* Familiarity with Google Analytics and the ability to connect email activity to downstream website behaviour and conversions
* Experience with A/B testing and using results to iterate and improve
