Overview
The Industrial Mandate Group (TIM) is one of the fastest-growing industrial businesses in the North East of England. Founded in 2020, we have built a highly profitable, transatlantic group of six subsidiaries through a disciplined acquisition strategy, a world-class operational platform and a relentless focus on culture and performance. With the recent acquisition of Sonfast Corp. in South Carolina, we are now firmly established as an international force in fastener procurement and supply chain management.
This is a newly created, high-impact role that will own everything people-related across the group — from attracting and retaining top talent to shaping the incentive structures, training frameworks and HR governance that will underpin a business operating at pace across two continents. This is not a back-office HR role. It is a senior, strategic appointment for someone who wants to help build something.
The role
Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director, the Head of Talent is a senior, cross-group appointment responsible for the full people agenda. You will own recruitment, HR governance, incentive design, talent development and — on a part-time basis — the group’s social media presence across all professional channels. Critically, you will play a central role in shaping the evolution of the broader TIM team: identifying the right strategic hires at the right time, building managed succession into how we think about the organisation, and maintaining a clear-eyed focus on quality over quantity at every level.
You will work closely with the Group Owner, MD and FD as well as subsidiary leaders across both the UK and USA, and will be a visible, trusted presence across the business. The role is full-time, on-site at our head office in Gateshead, with occasional travel to the USA.
What you will own
* Senior recruitment — partnering with leadership to identify, attract and onboard high-calibre commercial, operational and technical hires across the group
* HR governance — ownership of employment frameworks, contracts, policies, disciplinary and grievance processes and compliance across UK and US entities
* Incentive design — developing and managing performance-related compensation structures, including earnouts and bonus frameworks aligned to group financial targets
* Learning and development — building a coherent training and development offer that stretches people at every level of the organisation
* Culture and engagement — acting as a guardian of TIM\'s ethos; translating our values into tangible people practices that retain talent and drive performance
* Workforce planning — working with subsidiary leaders to anticipate headcount needs and build a pipeline of capability ahead of demand
* Social media communications — managing the group\'s LinkedIn and other professional channels on a part-time basis, producing content that reflects our brand, culture and commercial achievements
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is genuinely excited by business — not just HR. The best candidate for this role will have spent time in operational or commercial environments and understands the realities of running a fast-growing industrial business. They will combine strong HR professionalism with the commercial instincts and analytical rigour to operate credibly at board level.
Experience and background
* Demonstrable experience in HR leadership, ideally spanning both generalist HR and operational or commercial roles
* Background in or strong exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, engineering or industrial sectors — this is a material advantage
* Track record of owning end-to-end senior recruitment, including executive search, offer negotiation and onboarding
* Experience designing and implementing incentive and compensation frameworks linked to business performance
* Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment without large supporting infrastructure
* Exposure to multi-site or multi-entity businesses; international experience is a plus
* A relevant professional qualification (CIPD or equivalent) is valued; we are equally interested in what you have built and delivered in practice
* Experience in organisation design — particularly in the context of M&A integration and evolving team structures — is a material advantage
Skills and attributes
* Commercial acumen — you understand P&L, margin and what drives business performance
* Analytical capability — you are comfortable working with data, interrogating metrics and making evidence-based recommendations
* Communication — you can hold a room with the board and be equally effective with a warehouse operative in Gateshead or a fastener salesman in South Carolina
* Self-starter — you define your own agenda, manage upwards and do not wait to be told what to do
* Cultural alignment — you share TIM\'s values: integrity, ambition, discipline and a genuine pride in doing things properly
* Adaptability — TIM is a fast-moving business; priorities shift and you will need to move with them
One thing we are clear about: we are not looking for a corporate HR professional who measures success in policy documents and org charts. If you are more comfortable in a large, slow-moving organisation than a fast, lean one, this role is not for you.
What we offer
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth business at a pivotal moment in its development — with high-impact collaboration at the heart of how we operate.
* A senior, board-facing role with genuine influence over the direction of the group
* £45,000–£60,000 depending on experience, with a performance-driven bonus and private medical insurance
* The opportunity to build a people function from a strong but early base
* A tight-knit, high-performing leadership team that operates with trust and pace
* Occasional travel to the USA as the group continues to expand
* A business with no legacy baggage — clean balance sheet, modern systems and a culture that rewards the right behaviours
* Real scope for advancement as the organisation continues to grow and evolve — this role has the potential to develop significantly as TIM does.
