Senior Engineer (Backend/DevOps) – 12-Month Contract | Manchester (Hybrid)
A global financial services leader is seeking a Senior Engineer to build secure, scalable backend services and modern AWS infrastructure. This is a hybrid role (3 days per week in Manchester) and pays up to £600p/d inside ir35.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js and NestJS.
* Implement robust error handling, logging and testing (unit, integration, mocking).
* Build and automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation.
* Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for microservice deployments.
* Embed DevSecOps best practices across IAM, networking and compliance.
* Improve performance, reliability, and observability with CloudWatch, Datadog or Prometheus.
* Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver high-quality, secure software at scale.
Key Skills:
* Strong Node.js/NestJS and REST API development experience.
* Skilled in AWS (IAM, networking, ECS/EKS, Lambda).
* Proficient with IaC, CI/CD and scripting (Python, TypeScript, Bash).
* Hands-on with Docker/Kubernetes and modern authentication tools (Auth0, Ping Identity).
* Committed to code quality, testing and clean engineering practices.
* Excellent communicator and team collaborator.
