Job Title: Data Migration Analyst

Role Overview
The Data Migration Analyst will play a pivotal role in a large-scale IT transformation programme, supporting the implementation of a robust data migration strategy. This position involves extensive collaboration with stakeholders across the business and technical teams to ensure data accessibility, quality, and integrity during system transitions. The analyst will contribute to the broader data strategy, data governance, and support the development of processes, systems, and standards to enhance data quality and management across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse source systems to map data structures to target systems.
* Develop technical specifications for ETL processes to support migration.
* Collaborate with Data Engineers to develop data pipelines.
* Design and implement data validation rules and tests.
* Coordinate with Data Quality forums to resolve data issues related to migration.
* Contribute to the design and implementation of data governance frameworks.
* Establish clear data ownership, accountability, and stewardship practices.
* Define and implement robust data rules in collaboration with business stakeholders.
* Support the harmonisation strategy and data model creation.
* Assist in developing and maintaining a centralised data catalogue.
* Enable improved reporting, analytics, and insight delivery across the business.
* Develop data quality rules and support business requirement gathering.
* Contribute to new reporting infrastructures for assessing data quality.
* Conduct regular data audits and perform root cause analysis on data issues.
* Maintain comprehensive data quality documentation.
* Gather requirements for test and training data.
* Manage and maintain data sets used in test and training scenarios.
* Ensure data is delivered, refreshed, and accessible in alignment with delivery schedules.
* Document business use cases and technical requirements for data processes.
* Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, data, and IT teams.
* Analyse data sets for insights and continuous improvement opportunities.
* Recommend and support enhancements to data governance and management.
* Identify risks and contribute to mitigation planning.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, including data protection and security.
Knowledge & Experience
* 3–5 years of experience in data analysis and migration within large, complex organisations.
* Proven background supporting IT transformation projects.
* Hands-on experience with systems such as MS Dynamics, Salesforce, and enterprise data tools.
* Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
* Experience in business process analysis from a data perspective.
* Prior experience in the energy sector (preferred but not required).
Skills & Abilities
* Strong SQL skills and proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
* Familiarity with Python and cloud data platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
* Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and relational databases.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* Clear and effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, data-centric environment.
Qualifications
* Degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics) or equivalent work experience.
* Accreditation in Lean or Business Analysis (e.g., BCS, IIBA) is desirable.
