Join Nottinghamshire County Council, a dedicated team committed to serving our
Nottinghamshire County Council is looking to recruit two Business Analysts to work in the Strategic Insight Unit, working across the authority to support a wide range of continuous improvement, transformation and change initiatives. The work is diverse due to the many services we deliver and utilises a range of analytical methodologies such as systems thinking, lean, and predictive analytics. We seek to provide actionable insights and recommendations that help stakeholders make critical and informed decisions.
This is a demanding role ideally suited to a person who has experience of working in a complex local authority/similar public sector environment, and an excellent understanding of the current issues, challenges, and developments involved. Strong candidates will demonstrate experience of working beyond financial/IT analysis.
The role will be expected to:
* Undertake detailed diagnostics including root cause analysis
* Help to collaboratively generate and evaluate potential improvement and change options against a range of criteria
* Analyse current and forecast service demand/need, supply, utilisation, performance, and impact
* Apply understanding of the structures, inter-relationships and behaviours of complex systems and the processes within them.
* Support the development of business cases and the identification, assessment and tracking of anticipated benefits, disbenefits, risks, issues, costs
* Integrate, analyse and interpret large and complex data-sets and information sources in various formats
* Understand, develop and manage complex stakeholder relationships effectively.
* Work closely with colleagues in the Strategic Insight Unit and wider Transformation and Change Group to support a culture of inclusion, cohesion, collaboration, creativity and continuous learning
We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate business analysis experience in their own words, drawing on specific, real‑life examples from their work in complex organisational environments. Applications that rely on generic descriptions of business analysis, stock phrases, or formulaic responses are unlikely to score well. We are interested in how you think, work, and learn as a business analyst — not textbook or template answers.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact: Laurie Heighway, Strategic Insight Unit Manager on 0 1159 772386 or by email on laurie.heighway@nottscc.gov.uk
