Location: The Council House, Derby
Derby, the UK’s capital for innovation, is at the heart of the country’s aerospace, rail and automotive sectors and is home to an expanding network of advanced technology businesses and professional services. Derby has a vibrant creative sector and outward-looking businesses operating in global markets. Derby’s economic performance is amongst the strongest cities outside the South-East and the city is renowned for its innovation, research and development. However, much still needs to be done to achieve greater inclusive economic growth and to transform our city centre.
At the forefront of the local public sector’s response to these challenges sits the Council’s Regeneration & Economic Growth Division. The Division is being restructured to adapt to the recent creation of the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) and changes to funding programmes that it manages. Consequently, we are now in a position to offer a number of exciting opportunities to join our dynamic team.
Requirement
Local government is undergoing an exciting period of change through Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution. These roles offer a great opportunity to engage in this process while highlighting Derby's attributes and benefits.
Derby’s award-winning Regeneration & Economic Growth Division develops and leads on delivering a portfolio of programmes and projects to achieve outcomes including job creation, new housing, business growth and increased City Centre footfall. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working closely with private and public sector partners as well as other Council services.
The successful candidates should be professionally qualified or have relevant experience of working in a regeneration and economic development environment or in housing, planning or another relevant field. For all positions, a proven track record of successfully designing, delivering and managing complex programmes and projects is essential, along with experience of working in partnership with the private sector.
Individuals must have the capability and tenacity to deal with a demanding and varied portfolio. Good organisational, budget, contract management, communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in negotiation are essential. Experience of dealing with external funding and developing robust business cases would be advantageous.
If you are passionate about regeneration and economic growth, making a difference, and have strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, you will love working as part of the Regeneration & Economic Growth Division. Joining this ambitious and dynamic team offers the perfect opportunity to influence economic development policies and achieve positive change.
