About the Role
We are in search of exceptional, self-driven postdoctoral research associates (PDRAs) to join a dedicated team in developing and testing a groundbreaking minimally invasive device for deep access within the human body. The research remit will encompass: mechanical and electronic circuit design, prototyping, and pre-clinical evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic devices to tackle clinical challenges within hospital settings. A deep understanding and hands-on experience in user-centred design, electronic circuitry, programming, and system controls within medical contexts are highly regarded. Dissemination of findings through publication is an essential aspect of these positions.

The selected candidate will collaborate as part of a cohesive unit to:

1. Design, develop, and experimentally validate mechanical and electronic systems for image-guided therapy.
2. Integrate pioneering and proven tools for the precise control and validation of interventional device placements.
3. Examine clinical workflows and validate the established systems in tandem with clinical partners.

About You
You will possess a PhD (or be nearing completion) in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. You will have hands-on experience with engineering designs, circuitry, system control, and integration, with a special emphasis on mechatronic and robotic systems. Your track record will demonstrate proficiency in the design, fabrication, and pre-clinical testing of innovative devices. You should be adept with LabView, MATLAB, and SolidWorks.

About the School
The role will be situated at the School of Engineering & Materials Science, Queen Mary University of London. The appointee will collaborate closely with researchers in the Centre for Bioengineering, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as with NHS hospitals. Furthermore, the candidate will work hand in hand with clinical and industrial partners to ensure the translation of this research into clinical practice.
