Purpose: We are seeking a External Government Affairs - Section Manager to be based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe to Support the development and execution Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceana External General Affairs strategy across the region in co-ordination with the EGA team AMEIO Manager and Director. Main Tasks & Responsibilities: Provide a support to the management team to develop and Implement Government Affairs Strategies across AMEIO relevant research, analysis, and monitoring of legislative and regulatory developments across AMEIO. Support EGA team to ensure delivery of challenging KPIs Ensure EGA identification of key policy issues, trends, and opportunities that may impact the organization's operations Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building: Excellent communicator - verbal and oral Establish and maintain strong relationships with government officials, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders External representation of the business in external meetings, conferences, and industry events as required by Manager and Director to advocate for our positions and foster positive relationships Collaborate with industry associations, coalitions, and other stakeholders to build consensus and amplify advocacy efforts Policy Analysis and Position Development: Ensure the highest standards of analysis of legislative proposals, with reviews of white papers, and policy documents to assess their impact on the organization Craft persuasive written submissions, position papers, and briefing materials to effectively communicate our positions to stakeholders Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including, Monozukuri, Legal, Communications, Compliance and Product Planning, to align government affairs strategies with overall organizational goals. Provide guidance and support to other teams on government affairs matters and regulatory implications in collaboration with EGA Manager and Director Skills & Experience Understanding of geo-political frameworks and tensions within the AMEIO region. Including how political processes, regulatory landscapes and political dynamics change and influence policy development which have an impact on the business. Specific understanding of politics and culture of Middle East and Africa in particular is highly desirable, however adaptability and sensitivity to other regions - Oceania, India, Europe is also important. Deep interest in geo-politics and be well informed on political topics Agility and adaptability and be able to manage multiple topics against very tight timescales Demonstrable experience of managing complex relationships with external AND internal stakeholders. Ability to analyse complex policy documents, propose strategic recommendations, and develop clear and persuasive policy positions and recommendations. An entrepreneurial approach with a business orientated outlook. Output rather than process driven Education: Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field Proven experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles, with a focus on AMEIO region. Knowledge of international and intranational political systems, regulatory frameworks, and government processes. Policy Expertise: Solid understanding of how policies are developed and influenced Nice to have - understanding of key policy issues and trends affecting the organization's industry within Europe and AMEA region. Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated experience in building and managing relationships with government officials, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively represent the organization's interests and negotiate favourable outcomes. Strategic Thinking and Advocacy: Proven ability to think strategically, anticipate policy developments, and formulate proactive government affairs strategies. Strong advocacy skills with the ability to influence policymakers and effectively communicate complex issues to diverse audiences. Collaborative Approach: Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders. Experience in managing cross-functional projects and collaborating with internal teams to achieve shared goals. Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to navigate complex and dynamic regulatory environments and adjust strategies in response to changing political landscapes. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
