Contract Specialist (NEC) – Major Infrastructure Projects
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote + occasional site visits)
Security Requirement: Sole UK Nationals only (no dual nationality)
Overview
We are supporting a leading Tier 1 contractor with a strong track record in delivering large-scale, complex infrastructure projects. They are seeking an experienced Contract Specialist with deep expertise in NEC contracts to provide advisory and hands-on support to the commercial and project teams.
This role would suit an individual from a highly regulated environment such as nuclear, defence, energy, or major infrastructure, where governance, compliance, and contract rigour are critical.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist NEC contractual advice across live infrastructure projects
* Support the commercial and project teams with contract interpretation and application
* Lead on contractual risk identification, mitigation strategies, and compliance
* Advise on early warnings, compensation events, and change management processes
* Support contract administration to ensure alignment with NEC principles and best practice
* Assist in dispute avoidance and resolution, ensuring a proactive and non-adversarial approach
* Contribute to the development and improvement of internal contract management processes
* Engage with key internal and external stakeholders, including client representatives
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience as a Contract Specialist / Contracts Manager within large-scale infrastructure projects
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 / NEC4 essential)
* Background in nuclear or other highly regulated industries (e.g. defence, energy, rail, utilities) highly desirable
* Demonstrable experience advising project teams on complex contractual matters
* Strong understanding of contract risk management and commercial governance
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Ability to operate both strategically and at project delivery level
Essential Requirements
* Sole UK Resident (mandatory due to security clearance requirements)
* Willingness to work in a hybrid model (3 days per week in Glasgow office)
* Flexibility to attend site as required
