We are recruiting a Payroll Support Officer within the Greater Manchester Shared Service Centre.
If you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced, high volume, customer focused environment and you have a passion for payroll delivery then this role could be for you! Prime candidates will have some experience and understanding of payroll processes and calculations, be numerate and have a related qualification (or be willing to study)
The role is subject to Greater Manchester Police recruitment vetting which requires a minimum UK residency of 3 years.
To help you balance your work commitment with other priorities, you will be able to complete your contracted hours flexibly within agreed parameters. Whilst there may be a requirement for you to visit our offices on a regular basis, post holders will also have the option to complete some of their working week at home, if desired.
The Greater Manchester Shared Service (GMSS) is an exciting partnership between Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Police, which was established early in 2017. Based at Trafford Town Hall, our aim is to provide a first class, professional, HR and payroll shared service for over 20,000 employees and customers across both organisations.
You will support the GMSS Management Team in respect of all matters relating to Payroll processes, understanding regulations and legislation, acting as a point for specialist advice for employees, managers and external stakeholders.
Main Purpose of the role
At Greater Manchester Shared Services we understand that no candidate will meet every single desired requirement. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you.
To support the development of a Shared Service Centre for Partnership members, ensuring a high performing and customer focused transactional HR, Payroll and Pension service that is continuously improving and makes best use of all available technology.
To provide a comprehensive payroll control and governance administration function across a number of large, complex organisations.
To respond to general and complex queries from employees regarding their pay.
Further details are contained within the job description and person specification. The job description has been signposted to indicate at which stage of the process each criteria will be tested.
About the benefits
You will be welcomed into a friendly environment where your development will be encouraged. The post includes a generous paid annual leave allowance plus bank holidays. Successful candidates will also have access to our pension scheme, with substantial employer contributions, and to a range of other benefits.
Greater Manchester Shared Services needs to hold and process information about employees, workers and other individuals as appropriate, for various reasons.
