The
Applications Engineer
will be based in Stockport and will report to the Manager of Applications Engineering. The applications engineer is responsible for technical sales and quoting activities, including information review, sizing and selection, and quote generation while also working to facilitate communication between the sales makers, internal experts, and the customer.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and focused on deliverables that help the organization close business faster. They will have experience within an energy and fuels market environment and be familiar specifically with commercial and engineering practices and in working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Technical Support
* Serve as primary customer interface for capital equipment and aftermarket filtration/separation products
* Review and interpret technical specifications, process information, drawings, and regulatory standards (ASME Sec. VIII Div 1/2, PD 5500, EN 13445, PED, etc.)
* Perform sizing, selection, and process design
* Prepare accurate quotations, datasheets, sales drawings, and commercial reviews
* Support technical negotiations with customers and sales teams
* Ensure all proposal deadlines are met
Estimation
* Gather necessary customer process input data
* Evaluate input data and select most effective equipment solution
* Design equipment to be offered and/or select from previous designs
* Ensure that solutions are within the scope of Jonell Systems
* Prepare preliminary sketches, gather material pricing, estimate labor, and submit bid package including proposal, and/or prelim drawing, data sheet and any other documents required
* Responsible for preparing and issuing Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages to suppliers, ensuring all relevant project specifications, technical requirements, and timelines are accurately conveyed
* Identify potential risks in the estimation process, prioritize them effectively, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Escalate issues when necessary to ensure smooth execution.
* Upon approval, meet with drafting/purchasing/manufacturing/QC to discuss issues critical to successful completion and on time delivery of the project
* Interface with all client inquiries required for project
* Assure that all final data has been properly submitted by documentation manager and close job file
* May be responsible for project management duties from sale to design through shipment
Front-End Commercial Process
* Review and accept purchase orders, including customer acknowledgements of receipt of PO and formal acceptance of PO
* Work with inside sales to create sales order from quote
* Manage initial client data transmittals, and record output/input job packages and ERP order notation
* Prepare and submit approval packages, when required, including engineered drawing, calculations, WPS/PQR, NDE/Inspection plan, required outside procedures, and any other calculations or documents.
Market Support:
* Primary customer engineering contact including recommendations and troubleshooting
* Supports customer service and production as needed related to product technical details
* Coordinate or assist with on-site testing activities that effectively demonstrate the value we provide to customers
* Act as a liaison to sales team, distributors, representatives, and end users
Communications:
* Manage Internal and External technical and commercial communications
* Produce necessary internal communications and content to report activities
Other Duties:
* Perform other duties as required by the AE Manager or other leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, or related field
* Filtration or separation product specific experience preferred
* Extensive technical experience in Static Equipment and Skid Packages engineering, with strong proficiency in pressure vessel design and 3D modeling tools, including PVElite or Compress, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD
* Hands-on experience in the development of layouts and skid-based design solution
* In-depth knowledge of global market dynamics, particularly in regions like Europe and the Middle East
* The Application engineer should have a good grasp of interdisciplinary coordination, especially with mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines, and should be familiar with the associated documents and drawings
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, across job functions
* Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
* Ability to travel up to 20%
