Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer (contract) to join our client's team and support the delivery of key projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience and be confident working within modern frameworks, cloud environments, and agile delivery teams.Your new role
* Develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based applications
* Build and consume RESTful APIs
* Work with Spring Framework to deliver secure, scalable services
* Implement front-end components using Thymeleaf and JSON data structures
* Contribute to application design following GDS themes and design principles
* Support microservices-based architecture and best practices
* Manage builds, releases, and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps
* Implement and troubleshoot cookie/session management
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
What you'll need to succeed
* Strong commercial experience with Java
* Solid background in Spring Framework
* Experience with JSON, Thymeleaf, and template-based front-end development
* Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs
* Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD, pipelines, version control)
* Knowledge of GDS design principles (must have)
* Understanding of microservices architecture
* Strong grasp of session and cookie management within web applications
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
