Offer description

Jami’s mental health services are strengthened and enriched by a passionate and committed community of volunteers. As part of our new organisational strategy, we are investing in and expanding volunteering across both new and existing services — and we are now seeking a Mental Health Volunteering Coordinator to play a central role in making this happen.

Working closely with service managers, the centralised volunteering team and colleagues across Jami, you will think creatively and critically about how volunteering can safely, meaningfully and effectively support people using our services. You will help design and embed new volunteering roles, promote best practice in volunteer management, and ensure volunteers feel valued, supported and able to make a real difference.

Based at our Finchley hub, this is a varied, people-focused role that combines relationship-building, coordination, training, data and hands-on support across Jami’s services.

This post is onsite and part time for 22.5 hours per week (3 days) - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Based in our Finchley Hub with support across other Jami resources when needed.

Key responsibilities

You will:

* Work closely with the centralised volunteering team to support volunteer recruitment, including developing new role descriptions and coordinating recruitment activity
* Promote volunteering opportunities through community organisations, local colleges and volunteering fairs
* Co-create, coordinate and deliver small volunteering projects aligned to service needs
* Support volunteer role managers to develop meaningful roles, and identify training, supervision and support requirements
* Promote best practice in volunteer management to ensure a consistent, high-quality volunteer experience
* Maintain accurate volunteer records, working collaboratively with the data team and service colleagues
* Carry out annual volunteer reviews and respond appropriately to feedback
* Ensure robust outcome monitoring, collecting qualitative and quantitative data to evidence impact
* Act as a central point of contact for volunteering-related advice, support and problem-solving
* Organise and support volunteering events in collaboration with the centralised volunteering team
* Facilitate workshops and group reflection sessions
* Build positive, supportive relationships with volunteers, colleagues and people using Jami services
* Rotate across Jami resources to build relationships and provide hands-on support where required, including occasional cover at Head Room café
* Meet with clients in Jami settings, in the community, or occasionally in their homes
* Maintain confidentiality, write case studies when required, and produce reports demonstrating the impact of volunteering
About you

We’re looking for someone who is organised, empathetic and proactive, with a genuine commitment to mental health and volunteering.

Essential:

* Experience of managing and supporting volunteers
* Experience of working with vulnerable people
* Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and best practice in volunteer management
* Strong IT, administrative and organisational skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and challenging situations
* Confidence working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to collect, analyse and present data clearly
* A collaborative, flexible and team-focused approach

Desirable:

* Degree-level education
* Training in volunteer management best practice
* Experience delivering training and facilitating groups
* Experience in mental health services or with children and young people
* Lived experience of mental illness
* Knowledge of the Jewish community or experience working within it
* Local knowledge of community resources
Why join Jami?

At Jami, you’ll be part of a values-driven organisation committed to improving mental health and wellbeing. We offer a supportive working environment where creativity, compassion and collaboration are encouraged — and where volunteers and staff alike are recognised for the vital role they play.

If you’re passionate about volunteering, mental health and building inclusive communities, we’d love to hear from you.
