Offer description

Do you want the privilege of visiting patients in their own homes to deliver increasingly complex, holistic care? If yes, District Nursing may be the right career choice for you with the added bonus of no night shifts.

All levels of experience are welcome in District Nursing- Don't believe the old wives tales about needing to work on a ward first. Whether you are newly qualified or looking for a change in direction and a more challenging role, we would welcome your application for this exciting opportunity to join the district nursing world.

As a Community Nurse, you would be supported to develop into an autonomous practitioner; nursing patients with multiple complex health care needs in their own home.

District nursing is a highly specialised area of practice recognised by the Queens Nurses Institute and NMC as a specialist role.

As a Community Staff Nurse, you will work within a neighbourhood team of District Nurse Team Leaders, Community Staff Nurses, Therapists, Registered Nursing Associates, Health Care Assistant's and phlebotomists to meet the needs of the complex patient in the community and avoid admissions to the acute sector as far as practicable. This includes Intravenous medication administration, end of life care, managing the deteriorating patient, complex and simple wound care including VAC therapy and compression therapy, venepuncture, utilising advanced physical assessment skills and many more clinical nursing skills.

We nurse people with a variety of conditions in a holistic manner both in their own home and in clinic setting and work in close partnership with other primary health care professionals such as GP's, Community Matrons, Community Therapies and other Tier 2 specialised services such as Tissue Viability, Diabetes and Heart Failure.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.
