Description Job Title : Content Editor – Champ Rugby Department : Champ Rugby Reports to : Marketing and Communications Manager – Champ Rugby Salary Banding : £35,000 per annum plus performance-related bonus and benefits Job Level : Implement Location : Hybrid working, based at the employee’s home and Championship rugby clubs. The employee is required to attend the office (Allianz Stadium) for specific collaboration, training, or meetings as well as events and should make themselves available where required. Employment Type : Fixed Term Contract to 30 June 2028 Working Hours : This is a full-time role, covering 35hrs per week Application Information: Please submit an anonymised CV and cover letter (i.e. please exclude personal details). The Role: The Content Editor is responsible for creating and curating compelling digital content that brings the story of Champ Rugby to life. This role will play a vital part in building visibility, engagement, and affinity with fans, players, and partners across the league. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and the RFU Marketing team, the Content Editor will deliver consistent, high-quality content across social media, the league website, and other digital platforms. The role will also support clubs by providing guidance on content best practice, shared templates, and campaign alignment. About Champ Rugby: The role holder will be joining a newly formed group of passionate individuals who want to play an instrumental role in the growth of English rugby’s second tier, and to see the league and its clubs thrive in the years ahead. The Champ Rugby team will be led by the Head of Champ Rugby, who reports directly into Tier 2’s Board Chair, and the team will also include a Marketing & Communications Manager, and a Community Engagement Manager. The roles will also be supported by the RFU’s marketing, communications, events and competitions teams, and others, particularly as this new team establishes itself. The Champ Rugby team will be working in a hybrid setting, based at their homes and Championship rugby clubs with travel required for meetings/training as needed. The team also has access to office space at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, as an option for those who prefer more regular office-based work. You can find out more about the league here and here. Some key responsibilities include: Create and publish 5 high-quality content pieces per week across digital platforms, including video, graphics, written posts, and matchday content. Manage Champ Rugby’s official social media channels (e.g., Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube). Collaborate with clubs to support their content output and amplify local stories. Edit, caption, and publish video content (match highlights, player features, behind-the-scenes). Ensure consistent tone of voice and alignment with Champ Rugby’s brand guidelines. Coordinate with the RFU Marketing team to align messaging and maximise audience impact. Manage the content calendar in collaboration with the central team and clubs. Track performance using analytics tools and adapt content strategy to increase engagement. Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans. Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU, including the promotion of our culture and core values – This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other. Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation. Qualifications, Skills & Experience: The skills and attributes outlined in this description are not exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role. Essential: Proven experience in a content creation or social media role within sport, entertainment, or media. Strong video editing, copywriting, and publishing skills across major platforms. Experience using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent. Knowledge of scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout, Meta Business Suite). Ability to manage content workflow, hit publishing deadlines, and respond to fast-moving stories. Excellent understanding of digital tone and what resonates with sport audiences. Understanding of content licensing, rights, and usage in sport. Familiarity with rugby or similar team sports culture. Ability to contribute to commercial or sponsor-related content activations.
