About the Job:
As part of our continued growth Extreme Tree Services are seeking to appoint an experienced Utility Arborist (Climber) to assist our services offered throughout Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Mid Wales - Utility Arboriculture, Arboriculture/Tree surgery – commercial and domestic, site clearance and grounds maintenance. Applicants will need to work well under pressure, have a positive outlook, strong work ethic, due to the nature of the work be fit, punctual, work well as part of a professional team and be health and safety conscious. To be able to get to our yard on a daily basis by a specified time.
Essential Qualifications:
* UA1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3
* NG D746
* EFAW+F
* Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting
* Small fells
* Medium fells
* Climb trees and perform aerial rescue
* Operate chainsaw from a rope and harness
* Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw Using Free-Fall Techniques
* Aerial Tree Pruning
* Dismantling operations
* Aerial Tree Rigging
* Operate chainsaw from a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP)
* Woodchipper
Requirements:
* Full valid U.K driving licence and experience in towing up to 3500kgs
* Proven experience as a climber. (A short duration climb to assess will be required)
* Good arboricultural knowledge and understanding of basic tree biology and biomechanics.
Excellent communication skills and client-focused approach.
* Willingness to occasionally support ecological and conservation projects.
* Willingness to train and support operatives on their career path toward becoming climbing arbs.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
include but are not limited to the following:
* Perform utility arboriculture work, ensuring safe and efficient clearance around power lines and other utility infrastructure.
* Conduct tree pruning, removals, and vegetation management in compliance with industry standards.
* Excellent understanding of Tree Identification
* Maintenance of trees and hedges carrying out operations such as, but not limited to, crown lifting, crown thinning, crown reduction, formative pruning, limb removal, coppicing, hedge trimming and removal of epicormic growth.
* Felling and removal by straight felling or dismantling.
* Carry out Arboricultural operations within the tree canopy.
* Vegetation clearance work: including Brushcutting/strimming, tree felling
* Occasional Out of hours emergency call outs resulting from adverse weather conditions when required.
* Driving of company vehicles and machinery.
* Completion of appropriate documentation i.e., daily vehicle checks, equipment and machinery checks, daily personal climbing and rigging kit checks (LOLER compliance)
* Ability to communicate well with the team and the public.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Adhere to health and safety standards
* Ensure Risk assessments are carried out and adhered to
* Carry out maintenance to equipment.
* Working on difficult, steep and uneven ground and in various weather conditions
* Undertake any other duties that are deemed necessary by management
Desirable:
* Experience operating machinery: including woodchipper, stump grinder, self propelled machinery and attachments, MEWP, tractor, digger, tree shears
* Brushcutter/strimmer
* PA1 & PA6
