Surgical Care Practitioner (Bank) The Alexandra Hospital Bank Shifts Salary: Up to £50.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification) The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle Is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Surgical Care Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Duties of this role include: Assist in surgical interventions under the instruction and supervision of the operating surgeon, within your agreed scope of competence. Carry out tasks such as tissue retraction, suctioning, irrigation, haemostasis (including electrosurgery and haemostatic agent application), and wound closure where competent. Complete operative records accurately on behalf of the surgeon, ensuring clear, timely, and complete documentation. Work as part of the wider multidisciplinary theatre team, supporting safe patient care across the anaesthetic, surgical, and recovery phases. Prioritise patient safety at all times, adhering to all theatre safety protocols including WHO Surgical Safety Checklist compliance. Act in accordance with the standards set out by your professional regulator (e.g. NMC, HCPC) and within Circle Health Group policies and procedures. Applicants should meet the following criteria: NMC or HCPC registration with post-registration qualification as a Surgical Care Practitioner. Proven experience in a theatre environment and competence in assisting with surgical procedures. Excellent understanding of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and intraoperative patient care. Ability to exercise clinical judgment, work under pressure, and maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism. Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
