Overview
This role: Junior DevOps/Cloud Engineer is based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (Hybrid) with a permanent, full-time contract. The client is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join the technology team and help manage, automate, and optimise cloud infrastructure to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
* Support, manage, and optimise Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
* Automate tasks and processes using PowerShell and Azure CLI.
* Maintain and configure Windows Server environments, including networking and security.
* Work with VMware/vSphere virtualised environments to ensure availability and performance.
* Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for efficiency and resilience.
* Collaborate with development and IT teams to streamline software delivery and infrastructure operations.
* Ensure best practices are followed in cost management, security, and compliance within Azure.
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or System Infrastructure Engineering role.
* Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
* Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and Azure CLI.
* Solid knowledge of Windows Server administration and networking fundamentals.
* Experience with VMware / vSphere environments.
* Familiarity with monitoring and alerting solutions in a cloud or hybrid environment.
* Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work across teams in a fast-paced setting.
* Exposure to .NET application deployment and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
* Experience implementing automation for cloud cost optimisation and performance tuning.
* Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or other monitoring/observability tools.
