Care is Central is looking for a vibrant, passionate and organised Registered Manager to join our Independent Living Scheme (also known as 'Extra Care') at All Saints View in Houghton Regis.
All Saints View is an established independent living scheme in the centre of Houghton Regis. The scheme houses individuals aged 55 and over, and is comprised of a mixed community of individuals living independently, and others requiring varying degrees of care and support. Care is Central are the on-site care provider and maintain a 24/7 staff presence to provide scheduled care as well as respond to unforeseen events and emergencies should they arise.
As Registered Manager you will register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and oversight of this busy and growing independent living scheme. You will ensure the service delivers truly person-centred, compassionate and effective care and ensure organisational and regulatory compliance at all times, including ensuring CQC care standards are met.
You will work closely with our housing partners at Central Bedfordshire Council to assess new clients and to ensure a joined-up and holistic approach to service delivery, promoting a positive atmosphere and a can-do attitude.
Key Duties
* To maintain effective and regular oversight of the frontline care team to ensure a person-centred, flexible service is delivered that promotes privacy, dignity, independence and choice for those we support.
* To ensure that clients' wishes and preferences are adhered to at all times including when and how they would like their care and support to be delivered
* To manage and maintain oversight of the service rota ensuring adequate staff cover with appropriately skilled and trained carers at all times
* To ensure clients have detailed, bespoke and person-centred care plans in place at all times that accurately reflect their current care needs and preferences, and that these are reviewed at regular intervals in line with company policy
* To effectively identify risks to clients and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented to maintain their safety, welfare and wellbeing as far as is reasonably practicable, utilising external agencies and a multi-disciplinary approach where required.
* To ensure all care and support delivered is in line with the standards set by the Care Quality Commission and as outlined in our service specification
* To develop and maintain positive and trusting relations with clients' families and wider circles of support and to encourage them to express their needs, views and concerns
* To maintain up-to-date and accurate databases across a range of platforms including the use of online digital systems, spreadsheets and others as required
* To contribute to the management of the service budget, financial stability of the service and the wider financial success of Care is Central
* To lead on the recruitment process for the service
* To manage a growing team of dedicated care assistants. This includes managing inductions, supervisions, training and monitoring attendance and sickness.
* As part of this role you will be expected to support our other independent Living Schemes across Central Bedfordshire as required.
Requirements
* A minimum of one year working as a CQC Registered Manager within an adult social care setting.
* Experience in recruitment and selecting committed, values-driven, high-quality staff.
* Driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes (business insurance required)
* Experience carrying out needs-based assessments for clients aged 55 and over.
* Experience in managing safeguarding processes including raising notifications and leading on safeguarding enquiries.
* Experience writing and reviewing detailed and person-centred care plans and risk assessments.
* Experience managing and leading a team, effective delegation and managing service rotas.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills including the use of MS Software packages such as Word and Excel.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks including the Care Act, MCA and CQC requirements, and the ability to apply these within the setting.
