We are seeking an experienced and motivated pharmacist to join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a Highly Specialist Pain and Critical Care Pharmacist on a 0.6 WTE basis, based at Wythenshawe Hospital. This role provides specialist clinical pharmacy input across the pain service and critical care, supporting safe, effective and high‑quality use of medicines for patients with complex needs. The post holder will work closely with consultants, advanced clinical practitioners, nurses and pharmacy colleagues as part of established multidisciplinary teams. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist clinical, leadership and service development skills within a large NHS teaching trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist clinical pharmacy support to patients within the pain service and critical care
* Review, optimise and monitor medicines, including opioids, high-risk and high-cost medicines
* Support opioid stewardship and controlled drug governance
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support safe prescribing and high-quality patient care
* Contribute to service development, audit, guideline development and quality improvement
* Provide education and training to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff
