Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join the ARP within a supportive mainstream school. The ARP provides tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs—typically including Autism (ASC), Speech and Language Needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
The successful candidate will work closely with the ARP Lead and class teachers to ensure pupils receive personalised, high-quality support that helps them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Main Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils within the ARP
2. Assist with differentiated learning activities designed to meet individual EHCP targets
3. Support pupils in accessing mainstream lessons where appropriate
4. Use a range of communication and behaviour-support strategies
5. Help pupils develop independence, social skills, emotional regulation and confidence
6. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, therapists and external professionals
7. Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and interventions
8. Promote an inclusive, nurturing and safe learning environment
Ideal Candidate
9. Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly those with Autism or communication needs
10. Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement targeted support
11. A patient, empathetic and resilient attitude
12. Strong communication and teamwork skills
13. Ability to use visual supports (e.g. PECs, now/next boards) is desirable
14. Experience in an ARP, resource base or specialist setting is advantageous
15. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
