Role: Litigation Legal Assistant
Location: Bedford
Salary: DOE
A well-established law firm is seeking a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Bedford office.
This role is ideal for an organised and proactive individual with strong administrative and secretarial experience, who can work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism. Confidence in dealing with clients and third parties, both by telephone and in person, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Handling new enquiries and issuing initial client documentation
* Responding to queries from clients, solicitors, and other parties
* Recording detailed attendance notes of all communications
* Opening and closing files and maintaining accurate electronic and paper records in line with regulatory and internal requirements
* Providing general administrative support including scanning, copying and filing
* Drafting routine correspondence and preparing straightforward legal documents
* Completing legal forms and submitting applications to the Court
* Managing contact lists and diaries for fee earners
* Undertaking basic legal and factual research
* Organising, paginating and indexing documents (including medical records) and preparing chronologies
* Monitoring key dates and deadlines
* Preparing court bundles and e-bundles
* Assisting counsel at court when required
* Assisting with file costing and preparing billing information for the accounts team
* Providing reception cover and assisting with post and banking when required
Person Specification
* Strong administrative/secretarial background (legal experience preferred)
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to manage workload independently
* Professional and confident client manner
* Competent IT skills and familiarity with document management systems
Working Hours & Benefits
* Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:15pm (1 hour lunch)
* Office based role with immediate start available
