Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

FIXED TERM SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY, WAKEFIELD

Fixed term 6 months, 10 Programmed Activities per week PLUS out of hours on call 1:6 frequency

South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust are recruiting for an experienced doctor to join the citywide Wakefield CAMHS Psychiatry pathway. This fixed term post for 6 months (potential to extend) will have a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will work within the Psychiatry pathway. The successful applicant will receive close supervision from Dr Foong, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. We are keen to support eligible section 12 approved doctors to pursue CESR or Approved Clinician status if interested. We invite interest from applicants with experience of managing common psychiatric presentations in the community for under 18s.

This post is a short, fixed term post and therefore, unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor anyone on a skilled worker visa for this role. We are, of course, happy to accept applications from candidates who are able to prove their right to work in the UK in this role via alternative visas or routes. Such applications will be considered alongside all other applications.

Special Knowledge and Skills

* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.

* Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.

* Experience in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
* Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
* Has led clinical audits leading to service change.


Transport

* Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

Experience

* Excellent knowledge in specialty.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.

* Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.
* Wide range of CAMHS specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable.


Qualifications

* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise or must have checked GMC eligibility and commenced the application process at the time of NHS jobs application.
* Spent a minimum of four years (full time or equivalent) in postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent medical experience, of which at least 2 years in psychiatry.
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
* Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 6 months of appointment.
* Experience of working in NHS and CAMHS.
