Overview
Two personal care assistants required for a young female client. The daughter requires support accessing the community, personal care and PEG feeding. She has epilepsy, severe asthma and Level 3 autism. She is non-verbal but communicates using an aid book and uses a wheelchair in the community for health and safety. The role is 2:1 staffing.
Role Details
* Position: Personal care assistant (2 vacancies)
* Hours: 6 hours per week term time; 9 hours per week during school holidays
* Pay: £12.66 per hour
* Schedule: Saturdays and a weekday evening (times to be negotiated)
* Location: Crowle
* Consent and safeguarding: Enhanced DBS required (funded by us)
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and PEG feeding support as required
* Support the daughter to access the community and engage in activities (e.g., park, outdoors, bubbles, music, singing, observing cars)
* Assist with communication using the aid book; monitor for overstimulation to help prevent seizures
* Maintain safety during activities; manage risk related to the daughter’s health conditions and wheelchair use
* Work as part of a two-person team to ensure consistent care
* Respect the family’s privacy and preferences; be mindful that the family has two dogs
Experience & Qualities (Requirements)
* Experience with seizures is essential
* Safety-oriented, patient, energetic, bubbly and fun attitude
* Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and adapt to varying needs
* Willingness to work within a 2-person care arrangement
* Flexibility to work Saturdays and a weekday evening; reliable and punctual
* Eligible to work in the role and able to complete an enhanced DBS check (funded)
