If so, read on, RICS is seeking a commercially minded, pragmatic Head of Legal to lead our in-house legal function. This newly created senior leadership role offers the chance to shape the future of our legal services, provide trusted advice to the Executive, and guide a high-performing team through a period of change and opportunity.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you’ll oversee day-to-day legal operations and act as a key advisor to the organisation. You’ll work closely with the Head of Governance and Head of Data Privacy to manage legal risk across our global activities, while building a collaborative culture within your team.

What will the role involve? As our new Head of Legal, you’ll:
• Lead and develop a collaborative, high-performing legal team.
• Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice across contracts, IP, governance, and litigation.
• Oversee procurement and contracting processes to ensure agility and compliance.
• Manage legal and regulatory risk across the UK and global markets.
• Support corporate governance, data protection, and cross-border obligations.
• Guide external legal advisors and contribute to strategic projects and decision-making.
Who are we looking for? You’ll bring a blend of legal expertise, leadership, and commercial acumen. Specifically:
• Significant senior legal experience with a strong commercial background.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Expertise in contracts, IP, procurement, and data protection.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• A pragmatic, solutions-driven mindset with resilience in a fast-paced environment.
