Our client a prominent UK retailer is in need of a skilled Development Manager to oversee engineering teams working on shop and contact centre platforms. This pivotal role calls for an individual enthusiastic about advancing technical delivery, fostering collaboration across teams, and modernizing enterprise systems on a large scale. The position allows for remote work with occasional office attendance.
Collaborating closely with product, architecture, and delivery leads, you will play a key role in shaping the future of omnichannel retail technology. Your focus will be on ensuring the development of secure, scalable, and sustainable systems that elevate both customer and colleague experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple development teams in delivering essential retail and contact centre solutions.
- Drive modernization efforts and reduce reliance on legacy systems through technical leadership.
- Align development methodologies with Agile, Continuous Delivery, and DevOps principles.
- Navigate teams through intricate delivery cycles within hybrid delivery environments.
- Foster collaboration among engineering, product, infrastructure, and architecture teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated success in leading software development teams within enterprise settings.
- Profound knowledge of contemporary architecture patterns such as microservices and event-based systems.
- Experience in overseeing large-scale transformation projects and system modernization endeavors.
- Proficiency in managing hybrid teams (onshore/offshore) and engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, and Agile delivery frameworks.
Desirable:
- Background in retail, e-commerce, or contact centre platforms.
- Hands-on experience in software engineering.
- Understanding of packaged solutions and system integrations.
- Exposure to Lean, DevOps, or Systems Thinking principles.
