We have an exciting opportunity to work within the Adult Speech & Language Therapy team at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Your role will be to support Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) provision across in-patient settings, working closely with the SLTs and others in the multi‑disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) is to support the assessment and delivery of speech and language therapy (SLT) to adult inpatients with a range of acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders. This includes providing direct clinical input to patients and also completing clerical and administrative duties directly related to patient activity.
The SLTA will work autonomously, under the supervision of a registered Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), across SLT clinical teams at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.
The SLTA will support the Speech & Language Therapy Department to deliver an efficient and effective service in line with guidance from the Team Lead, Clinical Expert and/or Specialist Speech & Language Therapists, the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, the Health and Care Professions Council and Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Good general education including excellent written and spoken English
* NVQ 3 in care or equivalent
* RCSLT associate member
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience of working with adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders
* NHS Acute Experience
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
* Works well in a team
* Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality
