Job Title: SC Cleared Java Developer - Strong Software Engineer

Job Description:
Our Governement client is looking for strong Software Engineers with extensive experience working with Java (Spring Boot) in large-scale microservice architectures. You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team, working on critical systems that serve the public sector. As an SC Cleared Java Developer, you should be confident with test-driven development (TDD), containerisation using Docker, and working with relational databases like Postgres (ideally with migration tooling such as Liquibase ). Additionally, you'll be well-versed in CI/CD pipelines and have a solid understanding of modern DevOps practices. Knowledge of Kafka is advantageous, and experience with React/TypeScript is also desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop high-quality, scalable Java applications using Spring Boot in large microservice architectures .
2. Collaborate closely with cross-functional agile teams to design and implement solutions.
3. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following test-driven development (TDD) principles using tools like Junit and Mockito .
4. Implement containerisation and orchestration using Docker .
5. Work with Postgres or other relational SQL databases, ensuring efficient database interactions and migrations (e.g., using Liquibase ).
6. Contribute to the implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or similar.
7. Collaborate with both backend and frontend teams to deliver complete solutions.
8. Continuously improve development practices, ensuring security and performance are top priorities.
Essential Skills & Experience:
9. SC Clearance : Active SC clearance is required.
10. Java (Spring Boot) expertise in large-scale applications.
11. Experience with Postgres (or other relational SQL databases).
12. Solid experience with Docker and containerisation.
13. Proficiency in Test-driven development using Junit and Mockito (or similar testing libraries).
14. Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or other similar tools).
15. Comfortable working in Agile teams, collaborating with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
16. Experience with API Specification tools (e.g., Swagger, OpenAPI ).
17. Knowledge of Gradle for build automation.
18. Experience with Liquibase for database version control and migration.
19. Familiarity with Kafka for event-driven architectures.
20. Frontend experience using React and TypeScript .
