Job Summary: Permanent | Part-time (30 hours) | 24hr service - includes days, nights and bank holidays. Interview date: Wednesday 15th October 2025. We’re looking for someone to join our reception and clerical team, where you’ll help ensure the smooth running of our busy Emergency Department. You’ll provide a professional and compassionate service, supporting patients, families, and medical staff in critical moments. We’re looking for someone with a caring attitude, quick thinking, and a desire to help.
About You: Educated to GCSE level or have equivalent experience. Previous experience in a public-facing role with general office responsibilities. Enthusiastic and compassionate with the ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations. A team player with a desire to contribute to the care and support of others.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Deputy Divisional Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Provide a welcoming reception service for patients, ambulance staff and visitors.
* Support resus situations by taking essential patient details.
* Register patients and ensure accurate data entry in the Careflow PAS system.
* Direct patients to appropriate areas and answer questions with excellent customer service.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professionalism in challenging situations.
* Schedule follow-up appointments

Person Specification
Essential
Qualifications and Training: GCSE Maths and English. Desirable: ECDL.
Experience: Essential – Experience of general office duties; Previous experience of dealing with the general public in a workplace setting. Desirable – Previous experience of clerical work in an Emergency Department or a healthcare environment.
Knowledge and Skills: Essential – Previous experience of using a computerised client database; Excellent keyboard skills. Desirable – Use of Careflow PAS.
Personal Attributes: Essential – Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to cope with conflicting demands and time pressures; Persuasive and influencing skills; Ability to use own initiative; Ability to remain calm and professional; Team worker; Flexible and adaptable; Self motivated; High accuracy and attention to detail.
