Role responsibilities
The Road Transport Operator Account Manager will be responsible for leading the effective recruitment, retention and management of third-party road transport suppliers (Taxi, Bus and Coach). Ensuring a sufficient supply of the required number and quality of vehicles to meet the needs of TFW and our passengers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
1. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with road transport providers, acting as the primary point of contact for all operator-related matters across both internal and external stakeholders.
2. Ensure the availability and quality of the operator pool, maintaining sufficient capacity to meet Transport for Wales’ operational requirements and customer service expectations.
3. Lead operator recruitment efforts, adopting a continuous engagement approach to attract new suppliers, promote the benefits of working with TfW, and build long-term partnerships within the transport industry.
4. Manage the Dynamic Market Framework, ensuring a compliant procurement process in line with public sector procurement rules (Procurement Act 2023) and Social Partnership and Public Procurement Act 2023 through continuous collaboration with the Commercial Contracts and Procurement Team.
Who we’re looking for
5. Experience in a procurement, commercial and/or relationship management role.
6. Strong contract management skills, with risk and opportunity awareness.
7. Background in the transport sector, ideally with operator engagement.
8. Proven ability to influence external stakeholders.
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
10. Strong organisational and leadership capabilities.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
