Responsibilities
Support the development and delivery of a specialist multi‑level communication skills programme and Advance Care Planning (ACP) across East Lancashire NHS Trust.
* Deliver and facilitate communication skills and ACP training to all staff grades, including pre‑registration and post‑registration students.
* Act as a role‑model for effective communication and provide expert knowledge, advice and feedback to staff.
* Support clinical teams in managing sensitive, complex information and guide them through extremely complex, emotive conversations with patients.
* Provide one‑to‑one support in clinical areas for staff requiring help with difficult conversations, using complex communication strategies and models.
* Evaluate the impact of communication with patients and staff, and analyse reports to identify themes and improve practice.
* Maintain accurate records of training delivery (formal and informal), input data, and analyse it to prioritise key staff groups.
* Assist the Communication Skills Lead in preparing verbal and written reports.
* Participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of current and new programmes of education and training specific to communication skills and ACP.
* Ensure training facilities meet the requirements of each session and propose necessary changes to policy.
* Manage stock control and re‑ordering of resources required for training.
Professional Responsibilities
* Maintain current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) throughout employment.
* Act in a professional manner at all times and adhere to the professional code of conduct.
* Manage and prioritise workload, take responsibility for personal performance and recognise development needs.
* Participate in an agreed personal development or appraisal scheme and attend mandatory training relevant to the post.
Qualifications
* NMC registration and appropriate UK professional registration.
