Job Overview
Acting in the area to which they are assigned, provide consistent and professional support and guidance to SLT team members, operational teams, and the contract supply chain. The goal is to meet QHSE objectives and targets, working closely with Mitie colleagues to ensure that the standards of QHSE management expected by Mitie and our clients are achieved across all operations.
Main Duties
* Engage with management, shop floor, and contractor supply chain to embed health and safety best practices and adhere to our client’s contractor management programme.
* Lead programmes of work and new initiatives related to health and safety.
* Manage regular audit and reporting programs, communicating performance effectively.
* Serve as a key Health & Safety point of contact for the onsite team and contractors.
* Manage and deliver training programmes, evaluate their effectiveness, and ensure employee competence regarding HSE duties, including toolbox talks.
* Develop arrangements to manage risks from contractors and third-party suppliers in line with client policies.
* Proactively promote the Health & Safety agenda, including hazard observations, near miss reporting, and engagement of safety champions.
* Investigate site incidents and accidents, addressing causes and recommending improvements.
* Build strong relationships with the central Mitie HSE team and engage with high-risk activities.
* Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety standards.
* Maintain the COSHH register and carry out assessments beyond operational managers' scope.
* Ensure all site files are current for all service lines.
* Manage noise, vibration, ladder registers, and monitor sub-contractor safety systems.
* Perform audits on permits, ensure compliance, and monitor audit actions and NIEs.
Qualifications & Experience
* NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification is essential.
* Experience in safety and/or environmental roles, with a strong technical understanding in manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments.
* Proven experience in audit/inspection, incident investigation, and risk assessment.
* Experience in the Facilities Management sector, especially in Hard or Soft Services, is advantageous.
