About the Role

Are you a passionate educator committed to doing the best for your students?

St. Illtyd's Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated Alternative Provision Class Teacher to lead "The Link." The Link serves as a high-quality, preventative intervention designed to bridge the gap between bespoke support and full mainstream participation. In this role, you will be the architect of a highly personalised daily curriculum, ensuring that pupils maintain academic progress while preparing for a successful, sustained return to mainstream lessons.

Key Responsibilities

•Curriculum Design & Delivery: Create and deliver a bespoke "lesson diet" for pupils in Years 7–11, covering core subjects including Maths, English and PSE.

•Holistic Support: Teach all aspects of the curriculum, balancing core academic content with targeted social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) interventions.

•Reintegration Leadership: Take primary responsibility for assessing pupil readiness for reintegration into mainstream lessons and developing structured, phased transition plans.

•Collaboration: Liaise closely with Heads of Departments (HODs) to align with schemes of work and provide regular feedback on pupil achievement.

•Pastoral Care: Lead a morning wellbeing form group to support pupils in preparing for their day.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an excellent teacher with the energy, stamina, and resilience to thrive in a specialist environment.

Essential Criteria:

•Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

•Proven experience as an effective classroom practitioner.

•Ability to teach all year groups from 7–11 and a range of subjects including English and Maths.

•Strong belief that all students can achieve, regardless of their starting point.

•Commitment to Catholic education and family values.

Desirable Experience:

•Successful experience teaching in an Alternative Provision setting.

•Experience working with young people facing emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties, or those with neurodiversity and SEN.

•Working knowledge of trauma-informed practices, attachment issues, and restorative processes.

•The ability to prepare and deliver a range of PSE qualifications.

Why Join Us?

This is a vital role within our school’s wellbeing structure. You will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of our most vulnerable learners, working within a supportive team that values personal development and high professional standards.

Visits to the school prior to application are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting Julie Collins, Business Manager.

Safeguarding Statement

St Illtyd’s Catholic High School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required for all posts.
