Main duties of the job
The NIHR Biomedical Research Centre in Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Southampton are pleased to announce a Clinical Research Fellow post in Respiratory Medicine within the subspecialty of ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease).
This prestigious post is funded by the Respiratory Biomedical Research Centre to support the unit’s core research programme. The position will initially be appointed for 1 year, with opportunities for extension.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Your role will include:
* Providing clinical research support to respiratory research projects within your expertise.
* Being responsible for specific study-related medical support, in consultation with Study Principal Investigators.
* Providing medical cover for studies and supporting the development of a clinical cohort.
* Collaborating with Study Teams on study protocols, ethics, and R&D submissions.
* Managing administration of study drugs for studies involving healthy volunteers or patients, according to SOPs.
* Training and developing medical and nursing staff, including seminars and lectures for research training programs.
This post offers the chance to participate in respiratory translational research and pursue your own research for a higher degree. It includes training in all aspects of research, including regulatory submissions, recruitment, medical coverage, and sample acquisition via bronchoscopy.
Additional Information
Appointment will be under local contractual terms for Trust-appointed (non-training) doctors and dentists. Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, with a designated supervisor. CPD is supported, with options for study leave. All licensed doctors must meet GMC revalidation requirements, supported by annual appraisals.
Trust grades for appointed fellows include a basic salary of £49,909 (MT03), with additional remuneration for hours worked, including overtime, weekend allowances, etc. Travel expenses for interviews are not paid. GMC registration and right to work in the UK are essential. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should meet the Home Office criteria.
