City Hospitals Independent Commercial Enterprises Ltd (CHoICE) is seeking a Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical) to join their team of engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services.
The successful candidate will have a wide ranging knowledge of mechanical systems to ensure maintenance, repair and installation activities can be completed in the most efficient and effective manner whilst providing the best possible services. The role will require participation in the current CFS rolling 365 day shift pattern/system, current on-call rota and undertake overtime when the service needs dictate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake actual maintenance and installation work, surveys, inspections, fault finding, servicing and rectification of engineering system faults. They will also provide technical advice, guidance and supervision to other CFS staff, contractors and Trust colleagues alike.
Person Specification
Experience
* Knowledge and experience of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems typically found within a large NHS Acute Trust
* Detailed knowledge and experience of mechanical system requirements and regulations
* Complex fault diagnosis and technical solution formulation
* Experience of working within an NHS Hospital Environment
* Experience of operating Building Management Systems (BMS)
Qualifications
* City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering or equivalent
* Completion of a formally recognised, relevant and accredited apprenticeship
* BTEC/ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in suitable engineering related discipline
* Basic numeracy & literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent
* Basic IT Skills

* Able to use own initiative when undertaking problem solving scenarios
* Ability to adapt to changing demands and emergency situations
* Able to prioritise workload and achieve high quality patient care and SLA targets
* Self-motivated with a desire to improve current practices
* Knowledge of HTMs, planned preventative maintenance systems and building management systems (BMS)
