Job Summary
The Senior Buyer will manage direct materials procurement operations and maintaining cost-effective purchasing strategies. Drive negotiations with suppliers, analyse market trends, and provide leadership and execution of relationships with key vendors to achieve annual operation plans. The tasks and duties of a Senior Buyer are both varied and dynamic, requiring keen attention to detail and a proactive approach.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of a Senior Buyer include the strategic sourcing of materials and services, managing procurement processes, and optimizing cost without compromising on quality.
This involves:
1. Developing and executing procurement strategies that align with company goals.
2. Make v Buy, Should Cost Model, Supplier On Time Delivery
3. Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
4. Performing cost analyses and setting benchmarks for quality and cost.
5. Ensuring timely delivery of materials and services from vendors to support operations.
6. Conducting market research to stay updated on industry trends and new suppliers.
7. Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, finance, warehouse).
8. Auditing and onboarding of new vendors, risk review
9. Lead Purchase Price Variance (PPV) opportunities
10. Maintain PPV Funnel and Execution of PPV Projects
11. Develop team competencies and cross-training
12. MRP – ordering, parts parameters / maintenance, planningBasic
Qualifications/Experience
13. A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, supply chain management, or a related field is essential.
14. Additional certification such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
15. Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is highly desirable.
16. Proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role, and experience in a senior position handling complex procurement task
17. Strong knowledge of procurement and vendor management software (Oracle, SAP).
