We have an exciting opportunity for those wishing to work within the role of healthcare support worker within the Admissions Unit Team, Unscheduled Care at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The Admissions Unit is a 14 bedded Acute Psychiatric admission & treatment ward Mental Health assessment for all adults within the localities of Merthyr & Taff.
Candidates should have experience within the field of adult mental health.
Welsh language skills (desirable)
This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate does not need to be fluent, Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above will be considered an advantage during short‑listing and selection.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to work with and provide social, psychological and practical support to adults who have mental health needs.
Key responsibilities
* Assist the qualified nurse in providing individual care and treatment to patients and their families in a variety of settings, including the community.
* Collaborate closely with qualified nursing staff to deliver safe and effective care.
* Participate in teamwork and be receptive to instruction.
Person Specification
Skills and Attributes
* Good communication skills – verbal, non‑verbal and written.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and proficiency with IT.
* Welsh language skills in speaking/listening at Level 3 or above.
Experience
* Experience working with adults in a mental health setting.
* Experience working with children and young people, or families.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
Qualifications/Training
* NVQ level 3 in Health Care or equivalent evidence of knowledge and competence.
* Formal qualification relevant to the post.
