Cover Supervisors play a vital role in schools on a day-to-day, long-term, or permanent basis. While the role does not include planning and preparation, strong communication and classroom management skills are essential.
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Cover Supervisor with TeacherActive, you will:
Supervise and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom.
Deliver pre-prepared lessons and activities provided by the teacher.
Manage student behaviour effectively to keep all learners engaged and on task.
Support individual pupils or small groups as needed to enhance learning.
Assist with classroom routines, including registration, transitions, and end-of-day procedures.
Report on lesson progress and behaviour to the class teacher.
Adapt to working across different subjects, year groups, and departments on a daily basis.
The Successful Cover Supervisor Will Have:
CACHE Level 2/3 or at least 6 months relevant experience
Confidence in managing a class of students aged 11–16+
Strong behaviour management skills to keep students engaged
Flexibility to work across different departments and year groups daily
