Specialist Occupational Therapist – Inpatient Stroke
A permanent opportunity for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Stroke inpatient therapy Team within CHFT. The successful candidate will support Clinical Leads and Team Leaders in the delivery of occupational therapy interventions across the Stroke ward, contribute to service development and staff support, and engage in local and divisional projects.
Work schedule: 7‑day service provision; weekend working is required. The role is based at Calderdale Royal Hospital with cross‑site working expected.
Responsibilities
* Act as a specialist clinician for the Occupational Therapy service with stroke and neuro patients and embed best practice.
* Manage own specialist caseload within this area.
* Work autonomously within Trust policies and professional practice, keeping accurate and comprehensive records.
* Carry out specialist assessment and treatment of stroke and neuro patients to facilitate safe and timely discharges and transfer of care.
* Develop, deliver, implement, evaluate and modify individualized treatment programmes, provide specialist advice, and liaise with other agencies as required.
* Take part in the education and training of Occupational Therapists, qualified and non-qualified healthcare/social services/education staff, including medical staff.
* Support the Clinical lead in the day‑to‑day running of the Rehabilitation Team.
* Advise within the wider MDT on service delivery.
* Work across a 7‑day service.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in the NHS at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
* Specialist Occupational Therapy training and experience with stroke and neuro patients.
* Ability to manage a caseload and work independently while maintaining accurate records.
