About the Role
We’re looking for a caring and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist school in Sunderland. The role involves teaching pupils aged 7–19 with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD and speech and language difficulties.
You’ll design and deliver engaging lessons that promote both academic progress and personal development — celebrating each small step of success and helping pupils build confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver creative, multi-sensory lessons adapted to pupils’ learning styles and needs
* Support emotional and social development using positive behaviour management
* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver individual education plans (IEPs)
* Track and assess progress, maintaining clear communication with parents and carers
* Contribute to a caring and inclusive school culture

Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) or equivalent
* Passionate about SEND teaching, ideally with experience in autism education
* Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
* Positive, flexible approach and genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing
* Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and SEN legislation
