Job Summary
The Security Operations Manager (SOM) will be a key member of the Central Security Team (CST), providing Governance & Assurance, Audit, Training & Awareness, and Operational support. The CST’s primary goal is to safeguard GKN Aerospace’s People, Property, Assets, Information, and Reputation, ensuring compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations, meeting business needs, and maintaining the ‘License to Operate.’ The SOM will play a vital role in achieving these objectives.
The SOM should have strong security expertise, able to work strategically with senior leaders and operationally at manufacturing sites. They should be a subject matter expert in areas including Personnel Security, Physical Security, Technical Security Systems, Physical Information Security, Travel Security, Events Security, and Crisis Management.
A key responsibility will be supporting the integration of security functions across the company, implementing governance frameworks, providing audit capabilities, delivering training and awareness programs, and offering operational support and guidance to Security Leads and Managers.
Collaborating internally with stakeholders such as COO’s, Security Leads, HR, Procurement, Export Control, and externally with authorities, clients, and third-party providers, will be essential for fostering a security culture and delivering value to the business.
US and Mexico Focus
The SOM will serve as the SME for security activities in the US and Mexico, ensuring alignment and collaboration with regional Security Managers and Leads. This includes providing tailored advice, enforcing policies, monitoring threats, and overseeing regional audits to ensure compliance with global standards and local laws.
Job Responsibilities
* Develop and implement security governance frameworks including policies, standards, and guidelines.
* Participate in audits to review practices, identify gaps, and support improvements.
* Deliver security awareness training across the enterprise.
* Provide operational support to business lines and manufacturing sites.
* Build relationships with key stakeholders to understand and support security requirements.
* Offer expertise in Physical Security, Technical Security, Personnel Security (including US Government Security Clearances), and Physical Information Security.
* Guide crisis management planning, training, and response support.
* Conduct investigations when necessary.
Job Qualifications
* US National, with eligibility for security clearance.
* Proactive team player and self-starter, capable of managing multiple programs across geographies and time zones.
* Deep knowledge of security risk management and incident response.
* Experience with Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessments (TVRA).
* Proven ability to develop and implement security plans, processes, and procedures.
* Knowledge of physical and technical security controls.
* Understanding of Physical Information Security risks and controls.
* Experience managing international travel security plans.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
* At least 5 years in Security Risk Management.
* Experience managing security in a corporate or aerospace manufacturing environment.
* Academic background in Security Management or related fields.
* Military, police, or law enforcement experience.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Investigations experience and knowledge of Data Protection practices.
* Budget management experience.
