Position Description
JOIN OUR TEAM to assist and prepare approximately 200,000 service members who separate annually from the United States Military to begin a new life chapter as civilians. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these transitioning Servicemembers through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP), which is offered worldwide. This program conducts job assistance workshops, employment counseling, and connects participants to approved government and non-government partners. Our team ensures servicemembers and their families have the necessary career tools and information to seamlessly transition into the civilian workforce.
The DOL VETS TAP program seeks a skilled and compassionate Facilitator with prior experience teaching and/or instructing military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations.
Responsibilities
* Teach and instruct military personnel transitioning to civilian careers.
* Guide service members in identifying goals and recognizing employment or education gaps.
* Provide comprehensive understanding of civilian employment preparation, job searching, application processes, networking, technical training, and credentialing to servicemembers, families, and veterans.
* Assist in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools.
* Conduct group instruction on job search processes, both in-person and virtual.
* Deliver standardized curriculum effectively.
* Complete administrative tasks timely, including travel expense reports and classroom reports.
* Facilitate at designated locations; travel reimbursement applies for assignments over 50 miles from the assigned location.
* Complete 80 hours of paid initial training within the first month.
* Work schedule varies; typically 2-3 consecutive days per week.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma with 3 years of experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor, or an Associate's degree.
* Understanding of employment processes in private and public sectors.
* Knowledge of workplace requirements and entry-level jobs.
* Ability to train groups of up to 50 participants.
* Proficiency in MS Windows and Office.
* Effective communication with military clients and government representatives.
* Comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging diverse audiences.
* Availability for extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
* Strong time management skills, ability to work independently, and follow directions.
* Responsive to emergent facilitation needs.
* Meet country-specific employment requirements.
* Willingness to travel up to 10%.
