Offer description

About Us

The Sofa Shop is the UK's largest Smart Sofa showroom, specialising in cinema sofas, recliners, beds, and innovative furniture.

We're a fast-growing, creative, and ambitious company — and we need a Warehouse & Stock Control Manager who can build and run a world-class inventory operation from the ground up.

Your Mission

This is not a job where you sit at a desk and watch cameras. This is about leading, developing, and transforming the warehouse into a high-performance operation. You'll take full responsibility for stock accuracy, systems, processes, and people. You'll put policies in place, build efficiency, and make sure the warehouse runs smoothly, safely, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control & Systems

* Set up SKUs, barcodes, bin locations, and scalable stock control processes
* Maintain 98–100% stock accuracy with weekly cycle counts and quarterly full stock takes
* Build stock valuation reports to protect cashflow and monitor asset value
* Ensure stock systems (Shopify, WMS/ERP, Excel) are accurate, updated, and fully utilised
* Ensure all required licenses, certifications, and compliance documents are up to date

Warehouse Operations

* Oversee goods-in: booking in deliveries, quality checks, and system updates
* Oversee goods-out: picking, packing, and dispatch to guarantee on-time delivery
* Manage warehouse layout for maximum efficiency and clear organisation
* Keep warehouse clean, tidy, safe, and compliant with health & safety standards
* Own the returns and damages process, logging and investigating all issues

Component & Repair Management

Control expensive smart parts (motors, cupholders, chargers, buttons, remotes)

* Track parts issued to engineers/repairs and sign off usage to prevent loss
* Monitor warranty replacements and ensure accountability

Process Improvement & Development

* Introduce labelling, barcoding, and automation to reduce errors and increase speed
* Develop and implement warehouse policies and SOPs for best practice
* Identify and fix inefficiencies in staff workflows, ensuring smooth daily operations
* Work with management to improve stock processes, cost savings, and throughput

Reporting & Accountability

* Deliver weekly stock movement and valuation reports to GM/CEO
* Report KPIs including stock accuracy %, on-time dispatch %, and reduction in stock losses
* Support finance with stock values for monthly accounts
* Flag missing stock, slow movers, or cost-impacting issues immediately

Team Leadership

* Allocate tasks, monitor staff efficiency, and enforce performance standards
* Coach and train team members on best practices and safe handling procedures
* Lead by example with a hands-on approach, driving accountability and pride in results

Ideal Candidate

* Proven experience as Warehouse Manager, Inventory Controller, or Stock Control Supervisor
* Strong knowledge of SKUs, stock valuation, barcoding, ERP/WMS systems
* Tech-savvy — comfortable with Shopify, Excel, or other inventory tools
* Hands-on leader who thrives in the warehouse, not just behind a desk
* Commercially aware — understands the financial impact of stock control
* Highly organised, detail-focused, and driven to create efficiency
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Physically fit and able to handle the demands of a fast-paced warehouse environment

Package

* Salary: £30k-35k DOE
* Holidays: 20 days + Bank Holidays (1 extra day per year after 2 years, capped at 25)
* Birthday Day Off each year
* Pension contributions
* Staff discount after 12 months
* Career progression: potential to grow into Head of Operations or multi-site Warehouse Manager

Final Note

This is a development role — the right person won't just manage stock, they'll transform the warehouse into a best-in-class operation. If you're proactive, process-driven, and ready to take ownership, we want to hear from you.
