The Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service, a partnership between Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Alzheimer's Society, is dedicated to supporting individuals living with dementia and their families across Bristol. Our service spans from diagnosis to end of life, aiming to enable people to live their best lives within their community. We focus on raising awareness of dementia and improving accessibility for underrepresented communities.
We are seeking a full-time, twelve-month fixed-term Assistant Psychologist. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, and dementia navigators. Responsibilities include conducting neuropsychological assessments, structured observations, semi-structured interviews, gathering self-report data, and preparing reports. You will also contribute to developing and delivering post-diagnostic well-being interventions.
Main duties
We seek someone who can quickly adapt to the clinical role and integrate into the team. You should be kind, highly organized, assertive in emotionally demanding situations, and comfortable working autonomously. The ability to communicate calmly, confidently, and reassuringly with individuals and families in distressing situations is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical skills and a commitment to high-quality assessment and support.
You will join a small psychology team of 2 Clinical Psychologists and 2 Assistant Psychologists. The role may require extended hours and travel across Bristol.

Job purpose
To improve the psychological health and well-being of service users by providing assessment, intervention, and support within the Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service, under supervision.
Main duties
* Conduct assessments and deliver treatment plans for individuals, families, and groups.
* Provide advice and guidance to colleagues, patients, and families about psychological issues.
* Work independently within professional guidelines and trust protocols.
* Engage in supervision and ongoing professional development.
Additional responsibilities
* Maintain accurate records, handle information securely, and contribute to service development.
* Participate in research, audits, and training activities.
Person specification
Qualifications:
* BA or BSc in Psychology, recognized by the British Psychological Society.
* Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
Experience:
* Experience with psychometric testing and working with older adults in mental health settings.
* Experience in diversity awareness, social inequality, and supervision as an assistant psychologist.
Other: DBS check required.
