Cygnet Paddocks is our specialist Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation service for men. The service provides a dedicated care pathway for men affected by acquired brain injury or neurological conditions, where behaviours that challenge are the overarching impairment to recovery and rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus supported by Clinical Leads and Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within our service lines, with Occupational Therapists playing a key role. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction. You will lead the occupational therapy department and be part of the senior management team. An important aspect of this role is supporting student education within the team. This role offers opportunities for learning, development, and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT's Career Development Framework.

Your Role
Service Line: Specialist Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation Service for Men
Contract: Fixed-term contract covering maternity leave, approximately 9 to 11 months.
Summary of the site:
Cygnet Paddocks offers a dedicated care pathway for men affected by acquired brain injury or neurological conditions, with a focus on behaviours that challenge. The facility features individually designed wards that replicate established rehabilitation pathways, led by an in-house clinical and medical team. The service aims to maximize person-centered outcomes through interdisciplinary working, with individuals at the core of discharge planning. It can accept individuals under various legal frameworks, including the Mental Health Act. Located in Widnes, the area offers parks, nature reserves, and good transport links.
The clinical team includes occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and nursing. You will be supported by a Band 6 Occupational Therapist and an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Led by our occupational therapy directors, supporting over 150 Occupational Therapists across the group. We foster support and development through specialist interest groups and service development opportunities. Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to develop evidence-based practice and pathways. Our occupational therapists participate in service model development, utilizing the support of our clinical leads.
