Are you ready to join a forward-thinking local authority that’s truly putting the heart back into social work? The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Assessment and Intervention Service, where you’ll play a key role in shaping positive outcomes for children and families.
About the Role You’ll manage complex cases, assess risk, and plan timely interventions — always ensuring that children’s voices are heard and reflected in your work. You’ll also contribute to improving practice standards, coach less experienced colleagues, and deputise for the Team Manager when required.
This is an exciting time to join our service as we continue to strengthen our workforce and build on recent improvements. We are passionate about supporting our practitioners and fostering a culture of high support, high expectations, and fair challenge.
About You You’ll be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and will have successfully completed your ASYE. You’ll bring substantial experience working within statutory children’s services, with the ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
We’re looking for practitioners who are reflective, compassionate, and committed to relational practice — professionals who can balance curiosity with confidence to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.
