Offer description

Overview

Be among the first 25 applicants. We have an exciting opportunity for casual roles as a Youth Worker at our Youth Hubs across East Sussex. If you are passionate about working with young people and making a difference, this could be the role for you.

What is a Youth Worker? As youth workers, we nurture and support the young people we work with so they can learn to make informed choices; we teach empowerment and equality, helping the young people have a voice, build positive relationships, and reach their full potential. You will support the Leader in Charge in the operation and running of the session, engage with young people in the community, offer support, advice, and guidance, and handle safeguarding concerns as part of the team. Join us in supporting young people as they navigate the challenges and changes of society and themselves while transitioning from childhood to adulthood.

Successful applicants will receive a full induction and training to support all aspects of their roles with ongoing support from their manager and colleagues. Starting as a youth worker can pave the way for opportunities within keywork and social work. We deliver sessions for young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 years for young people with SEN).

* Drop-in Youth Activity Sessions: open-mixed groups for socialising and life-skill development.
* LGBTQ+: safe space for young people to explore identity and receive support.
* Juniors: open-mixed sessions for socialising and life-skill development.

Sessions usually run in the afternoon and evening unless otherwise specified.

Qualifications and Skills

* Interpersonal skills with the ability to be sensitive to the needs of young people and relate to them meaningfully.
